Our Story
We obsess over a single material. Every Kokoon piece is woven from Grade 6A Mulberry Silk at 22 Momme — the same standard used by the world's finest houses.
The Material
Mulberry silk is produced by Bombyx mori silkworms fed exclusively on white mulberry leaves. The resulting fiber is the finest, strongest, most lustrous natural textile on earth. Grade 6A is the apex — reserved for the highest quality long-filament threads.
The Ethics
We source exclusively through Ahimsa (Peace Silk) practices, where silkworms complete their natural metamorphosis before the cocoons are harvested. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified — tested for over 100 harmful substances, safe even for infant skin.
The Standard
22 Momme is the ideal weight — heavy enough for durability and opacity, light enough to feel weightless against skin. Below 19mm and the silk feels thin and cheap. Above 25mm and it loses its ethereal drape. At 22mm, it is exactly right.
Why Silk

Silk's smooth surface reduces friction by up to 43% compared to cotton, meaning fewer sleep creases and less mechanical damage to delicate facial skin overnight. Unlike cotton, silk does not absorb your night cream — keeping active ingredients where they belong.
Hair cuticles lie flat on silk rather than being roughed up by cotton fibers. In our 30-day study, 94% of women reported significantly less breakage and 89% reported reduced frizz. Ideal for color-treated, chemically processed, or naturally curly hair.

Preservation
With the right care, your Kokoon silk will grow softer and more lustrous with every wash. Follow these simple guidelines to preserve your investment for years to come.
Hand wash in cool water (30°C max) using a gentle silk detergent or baby shampoo. Never use regular detergent, bleach, or fabric softener. For machine wash, use the delicate cycle in a mesh laundry bag.
Never tumble dry or wring silk. Gently press out excess water with a clean dry towel and lay flat to dry in the shade. Direct sunlight will fade colour. Never hang wet silk — the weight can distort the weave.
Iron on the reverse side while still slightly damp, on the lowest (silk) setting. Never iron directly on the face of the silk. A pressing cloth between the iron and silk is ideal.
Store silk in a cool, dark, dry place. Avoid plastic bags — use the Kokoon dust bag or a breathable cotton storage pouch. Cedar balls (not mothballs) will deter insects without damaging fibre.
